Your shoulder is made up of many tendons and muscles that work together to help you move. It is the most movable joint in the body; however, it is at risk for various injuries, such as rotator cuff tears, dislocations, tendinitis, and fractures.

The most common cause of shoulder pain is rotator cuff tendon impingement under the bony area of the shoulder. Tendons can become inflamed or damaged. This is known as rotator cuff tendinitis or bursitis.
